This week we’re taking a look at infamous British street artist, Banksy. Known for his humorous, sarcastic images, his art focuses on culture topics, politics, consumerism and so much more. He uses a stenciling technique that makes the images look like newsprint characters jumping out of the bricks. There can also be free-hand graffiti or a witty message added over the stencil. His work has popped up in major cities all over the world, from New York to London to New Orleans.

If you take a look at some of this stuff, it’s great. It’s art. I wouldn’t call this the picture of graffiti in the sense that most of us know it as, like the quick-tag scribble you see on the sides of trains, but if you’re talking about illegally defacing property, Banksy is doing that. Some people actually remove his work from the wall!  I’d be honored to have it on my building.

What would be great is if we could somehow get a hold of this mystery man to do a huge mural in Philadelphia; I think we need some Banksy
